RANGAMATI, Jan 13 (UNB): At least 50 houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Reserve Bazar Mosque Colony in the district town on Sunday morning.
The fire broke out in the area around 8:30 am from a gas stove in a house and engulfed the adjoining houses, according to local Fire Service and Civil Defence control room.
On information, three fire-fighting units from Rangamati, Kaukhali and Kaptai fire stations rushed in and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts.
In Bhola, at least 35 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Elish Junction Bazar in Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The fire broke out from an electric short circuit at 'Amir Workshop' around 9:18am and engulfed adjoining shops numbering around 35 including two electronics showrooms, three electric shops, three mobile showrooms and two hardware shops, said Md Jakir Hossain, deputy assistant director of Bhola Fire Service and Civil Defence.
On information, six fire-fighting units from Sadar, Burhanuddin, Lalmohan and Char Fassion rushed in and gutted the fire after two hours' efforts. The victims claimed that the loss caused by the fire was about Tk 60-70 million.
