First anniv of beggar-free project observed in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, July 6: The first anniversary of the introduction of beggar- free project of Kishorgonj Upazila in Nilphamari district has been observed with huge enthusiasm Sunday last.

All the beggars of the Upazila, nearly 1500 in number, assembled and took part in the observance of the day. A colourful rally paraded through the streets on the occasion.

To observe the ensuing Eid-ul-Fitr lungi, sari, sugar, atta, soap and other things were also distributed among the beggars. While contacted UNO Kishorgonj Upazila Siddiqur Rahman said till date 951 beggars have been included in 'One Home One Farm' project.

Arranged in the Kishorgonj UNO office complex compound, the anniversary observation body was presided over by UNO Kishorgonj Siddiqur Rahman and participated and addressed by local MP Prof. Golam Mostafa, DC Nilphamari Zakir Hossain, Upazila Chairman Rashidul Islam, FE correspondent Abu Musa Mahmudul Hoque and others.
