Five trafficked youths return home from Iran

JESSORE, Jun 11: Abed, Rubel, Mostaq, Nazmul and Jabed, residents of different districts who went to Iran in search of better jobs returned from Bandar Abbas, Iran, by air at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Wednesday.  

They went to Iran  several years back and were trapped in the country by labour traffickers, said Binoy Kumar Mallick, executive director, Rights Jessore, a Jessore based human rights organisation.

Talking to FE, Binoy Krishna Mallick said that the five were confined by human traffickers in Iran a few years back. After initiatives taken by Rights Jessore with the help of the government the five were able to come back home.

'The victims were taken to CID office for quizzing and were sent to their respective residences in the morning', Binoy added.

'A total of 95 trafficked victims returned from Iran in last two years.

Hanging body of schoolgirl found

Another Jessore report from UNB says: Police recovered the hanging body of a schoolgirl at Navaron More in Sharsha upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased Sumi Khatun,14, a class-X student of Navaron Burujbagan Girls High School and daughter of Malaysia expatriate Jahangir Hossain, a resident of Khaskhali village in Jhikargachha upazila, used to live in a rented house at Navaron More along with her mother.

Local people found the body of Sumi hanging from the ceiling of her house and informed police at night.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to the Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
