Flood damages crops worth Tk 2000m in Tangail

TANGAIL Sept 22: Flood and excessive rain caused a colossal damage to corps in 12 upazilas of the district.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Tangail sources said around 2 lakh 17 thousand 851 farmers in 12 upazilas of the district have incurred huge losses due to damage of corps worth Tk 2000 million.
DAE Tangail sources said that flood in July and August have damaged a total of 27454 hectares of land, of them transplanted Aman on 20380 hectares, Aus on 1070 hectares, seedling of Aman on 563.5 hectares, vegetables on 202 hectares, Banana on 71 hectares, lemon on 22.5 hectares, Bhutta on 45 hectares of land.
Deputy Director (DD) of DAE Tangail Md. Abul Hashim said, "We are trying to help the farmers to re-plant Aman and other corps on twenty thousand hectares of land for recovery of the flood damage."
Anisur Rahman, a farmer of Rehai Gabshara village, Gabshara union under Bhuapur Upazila of the district said, "This is a big loss for me and god knows how I start cultivation again."
