Flood situation improves with recession of water in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Sept 4 (BSS): Water level in the river Padma receded drastically during last twenty four hours bringing a sigh of relief among the marooned people under three upazillas of the district.
Water level in Padma now stands at 8.31 cms, while the danger level is 8.65 cms, District Relief and Rehabilitation Office (DRRO)sources said.
Meanwhile, district administration relief team consisting of officials and upazilla chairmen has distributed 83 metric tons of rice and a cash money of Taka 1lakh thirty thousand among the affected people.
It may be mentioned here that the vast low laying areas of twelve unions of Sadar, Charbhadrasan and Sadarpur upazillas were inundated due to onrush of flood water from upstream causing sufferings to few hundreds of people.
DC of Faridpur Sardar Sharafat Ali yesterday distributed rice among 766 families of Char Jhaukanda and Char Harirampur unions of Charbhadrasan upazilla located almost in midstream of the river Padma. Each family was given 10 kgs of rice.
