Four die in road accidents in dists

Four people were killed in road accidents in Sirajganj, Satkhira and Thakurgaon districts on Saturday, report agencies.

In Sirajganj, two truck drivers were killed and three other people injured as a mini truck hit another one in Kashemmor area inder Kamarkhand upazila.

The identities of the deceased couldn't be known yet.

Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahid Alam said Rajshahi-bound mini truck hit another one while overtaking it at 8.00 am, leaving the two drivers dead on the spot.

On information, police and members of fire service recovered the bodies and injured people, he added.

The injured were taken to 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital and the bodies were sent to the morgue. A case was filed.

In Satkhira, a college teacher was killed after being run over by a truck in Patkelghata on the Satkhira-Khulna Highway.

The deceased was identified as Jahanara Khatun, 38, wife of Shahadat Hossain of Tala's Nawapara area. She was a lecturer of biology at Patkelghata Harun-Ur-Rashid College.

Patkelghata Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Islam said an oil-laden truck hit Jahanara near the Pallibidyut office, killing her on the spot.

The body was sent to Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, the OC added.

The truck driver has been arrested.

In Thakurgaon, a man was killed and three others were

injured when a microbus collided head-on with a truck in Sadar upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Khejmot Ali, 35, hailing from Vabanipur village in Ranisangkail upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Thakurgaon Sadar Thana Ashikur Rahman said the accident occurred at Khochabari on Thakurgaon-Dhaka Highway this morning.

Khejmot was taken to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctors declared him dead.

Police seized the microbus from the spot. A case was filed in this connection.
