Four die in road crashes

GOPALGANJ, Apr 08 (UNB): Two passengers were killed and 25 others injured as a bus overturned on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Gopnathpur in Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Ashikur Rahman Reza, son of Anis Molla of Tilchara village in Kashiani upazila and student of 1st semester of Food Technology department in Gopalganj Polytechnic Institute and retired policeman Ruku Molla, 62, resident of Boalia village in Sadar upazila.
The accident took place when a Gopalganj-bound bus overturned on the highway after being hit by a brick-laden truck around 9am, leaving Reza dead on the spot, said Md Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Later, Ruku was declared dead after he was taken to a nearby hospital, said the OC.
Meanwhile, BSS adds: In Bogura, two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Ranirhat under Shajahanpur upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Sri Ganes, 45, son of Bakul Sarker of Chougram under Singra upazila in Natore district and Ramjan Ali, 60, son of Salamat Ali, a resident of Sashibadani area in Bogura Sadar upazila.
Sub inspector of Bogura Medical police camp Azim Mandol said the accident occurred when a truck hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw in the area at about 7 am, leaving one auto rickshaw passenger dead on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where another succumbed to his injuries.
