JOYPURHAT, July 10 (BSS): A court here on Wednesday sentenced four people to life term imprisonment for killing a boy after abduction in Khetlal upazila of the district in 2000.
Additional District and Session Judge Md Nurul Islam handed down the verdict to Ekabbar Ali, Shafiqul Islam, his brother Abdul Matin and Tofazzel Hossain.
Ekabbar, Shafiqul and Abdul Matin are the residents of Hindapanch Khupi village in Khetlal upazila while Tofazzel is an inhabitant of Kalai upazila in the district.
The court also fined each of them Taka 50000, in default, to suffer two more years in jail.
According to the prosecution, on March 25 in 2000 the convicts abducted a boy named Riad from his village Hindapanch Khupi and killed him.
Later, police recovered his body on March 27.
A case was filed with Khetlal Police Station following the murder.
