Four get life term for killing student

A court has convicted and sentenced four people to life imprisonment in a case lodged over the murder of a student Tanvir Mahtab Ishrak in Tangail, reports BSS.

The four convicts are Abu Foysal, Amit Hasan, Ariful Islam Anik and Khandaker Mehedi Hasan Novel.

Judge Rafikul Islam of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 pronounced the judgment in the presence of the four convicts and sent them back to jail with the conviction warrant.

Ishrak, a second-year Diploma in Textile Engineering student, used to live at his maternal grandfather's house and study from there. On February 5, 2020, one Sohanur Rahman Sohan phoned him to meet in front of a municipal park in the Tangail sadar area. As Ishrak reached the place, the convicts started hacking him indiscriminately, killing him on the spot.
