KHULNA, Oct 19: Four persons were killed in separate incidents in Khulna and Bagerhat Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Jalil Akon alias Gadu (30) of Kharder area of Bagerhat town, a construction worker of the area, Julfiker Ali Bhutto (50) of village Shugondhi under Sadar Upazila of Bagerhat district, Rehana Begum (33), wife of Nazrul Islam of village Kulbaria under Dumuria thana of Khulna district and an unidentified youngman.
Police and local sources said that Jalil Akon alias Gadu was electrocuted while he was collecting firewood by combing a roadside and touched live electric wire and died on the spot.
Julfiker Ali was killed in a road accident at C&B bazaar area on Saturday noon while he was crossing the road by a bi-cycle. A Bagerhat-bound speeding passenger bus crushed him. He died on the spot.
Rehana Begum committed suicide at her parent's house. She was abandoned by her husband. It is learnt that Rehana Begum was staying at her father's house and her husband came to her recently and started torturing her. On Saturday morning local people found her body in her room. Since then her husband was absconding. Police suspected that her husband might have killed her.
Police recovered an unidentified body from a river in floating condition at Chitolmary of Bagerhat on Saturday. The body could not be identified.
Chitolmary OC Dilip Kumar said that local people found the body and informed the police.
