Four killed, six injured in Gazipur road accident

GAZIPUR, Apr 15: Four people including a woman were killed and six others injured in separates road accidents at Gazipur Baimail area and Pallibidyut area of Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur today (Wednesday).

One of the deceased was identified as Mitali Parvin, 34, wife of Amir Hamza of Chatmohor upazila in Pabna district. The identities of others could not be known.

Sub-inspector of Salna highway police station Saiful Islam said, a Gazipur bound passenger bus of Ajmeri Paribohon from Kaliakoir had a head-on collision with a truck coming from opposite side at Baimail area under Gazipur city on Wednesday at around 6 am, leaving an unidentified woman and two men dead on the spot and injuring six passengers.

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to Gazipur Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed medical college hospital.

Residencial medical officer of Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital Abdus Salam said, six injured were admitted to the hospital. They were identified as Hafiz, 40, Alam, 35, Ismail, 35, Sharufa, 22, Masud, 30 and Faridur Rahman, 24.

Mitali Parvin was giong to Savar with her brother riding on a motorcycle. While they reached Palli Biddyut area, a covered van hit the motorcycle from behind, leaving Mitali dead on the spot. Her body was sent to Gazipur Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
