Fresh areas flooded in Sirajganj rendering thousands homeless

New areas of Sirajganj district have been inundated by fresh flooding of the mighty Jamuna — Focus Bangla

SIRAJGANJ, July 27: Water level in the Jamuna has started rising again for the last few days causing a fresh flood and rendering thousands of families homeless and marooned in Sirajganj district.

Low income group of people in the flood hit areas are the worst sufferers and they are leading a miserable life and sometimes starving with their family members.

The flood affected people of the region have been facing shortage of food, pure drinking water, medicines and dry foods. They are seen waiting for getting relief. Supply of the relief is less compared to their need.

During a recent visit to the flood hit areas, this the correspondent found that most of the houses have been damaged by flood water and boundary fences of those hoses washed away by the onrush of floodwater. Many people in the area began shifting household articles to safer places.

District Administration (DA) sources said the flood victims of the district are living in extreme misery.
