Fruit trader hacked to death in Savar

SAVAR, Jun 29 (BSS): A gang of muggers hacked a fruit trader to death in Kabirpur area in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, early Saturday, police said.
Locals said, the deceased, Motaleb, 30, going to his business place in Baipail Bazar area and as soon as he got down from a bus, the muggers attacked him. They hacked him indiscriminately and snatched money and mobile phone set from him and threw his body by the side of Kabirpur road.
Confirming the report to BSS, officer in-charge (OC) of Ashulia police station, Sheikh Badrul Alam, said they recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy. A case was also registered.
Meanwhile, floating body of a pupil was recovered from river Bongshi in Katlapur area in Savar. Locals said, Atiur, a student of class nine in Adhar Chandra High School went missing yesterday as he went to play football at village Kalinagar in Savar.
Mostafa Kamal, OC of Savar Model Police Station has confirmed the news to BSS and said a case was lodged with his station in this regard.
