Fugitive convict held in Savar

The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Police arrested on Saturday a fugitive life-term convict, who fled the custody on June 26 from Hemayetpur in Savar, reports BSS.

The convict, Md Mozammel Haque alias Bhulu, 45, is son of deceased Mahbub Hossain of Ratnai (Chilavita) village of Baliadanga police station in Thakurgaon district.

Bhulu, a notorious drug kingpin, was convicted in drug cases with Thakurgaon sadar police station.

Police sources said that the convict was arrested from Hemayetpur Mollabari area under Savar police station of Dhaka district around 9:30 am on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (Media and Awareness wing of the ATU) Mohammad Aslam Khan confirmed the matter on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, on June 26, 2022, police were transferring Bhulu from Thakurgaon district jail to Dhaka central jail in Keraniganj. Then Bhulu escaped police custody at a place called Rahimabad B-Block under Shahjahanpur police station in Bogura district around 3:15 am.
