Gazipur, Habiganj, Narayanganj road accidents kill five

A total of five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur, Habiganj and Narayanganj districts on Wednesday, report agencies.
In Gazipur, a pickup-van carrying vegetables plunged into a roadside canal after losing control in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district, leaving three people dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliganj police station Md Alauddin said the accident occurred in Haridebpur area around 6am on Wednesday when the speeding vehicle overturned and plunged into the water body on its way to Gazipur city from a village with vegetables.
He said that the victims could not emerge from the vehicle in the water as its windows were closed, leaving them dead.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet, the OC said.
In Habiganj, an auto-rickshaw driver was killed as a pickup van hit his rickshaw on the Mirpur-Sreemangal old highway here on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md. Morshed Mia, 50, a resident of the area.
The accident took place around 11 am when a pickup van hit an auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving its driver Morshed injured critically, said Zahid Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bahubal Model Police Station.
In Narayanganj, aman was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in Jalakandi area under Araihazar upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Razzak.
