SYLHET, Aug 24 (UNB): A minor girl drowned in a waterlogged yard in Ahkalia area of Sylhet city on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sadia, 5, daughter of Abul Kalam at Karipara area of Notun bazaar in the city.
Local people said Sadia fell into the waterlogged yard of her house while she was playing with her mother on the veranda.
Because of strong current in the flood water, the girl drowned in the yard immediately after she had fallen.
Later, around 9pm, locals recovered her floating body near a bridge at Noyabazar area in the city.
Informed, a team of Jalalabad Police Station visited the spot.
