GO-NGO collaboration for reducing disaster risk underscored

RANGPUR, Oct 14 (BSS): Speakers at a post-rally discussion have stressed for comprehensive GO-NGO collaboration involving common people and adopting proven experiences to reduce disaster risks in building a more disaster resilient community.
Pirganj Area Development Programme (ADP) of World vision Bangladesh (WVB) organised the discussion as a part of the day-long programmes to observe the International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR)-2014 in the upazila town here on Monday.
The programme included bringing out of a rally in the streets, drawing competitions for the school students, seminar, sharing experiences with the older people of local communities on disaster managements and prize-giving ceremony.
Upazila level government officers, NGO representatives, teachers, students, journalists, local community leaders, public representatives, civil society members, women leaders, representatives from other social sectors attended the programmes.
With Pirganj ADP Manager of WVB Francis P. Nath in the chair, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Shariful Islam attended the post-rally discussion arranged at Pirganj upazila parishad auditorium as the chief guest.
