Gopalganj, Meherpur road crashes kill two


GOPALGANJ, Feb 17 (BSS): A motorbike rider was killed in a road accident at Chandradigholia of Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mannan Mullah, 55, a resident of Jorsing village under Koyra upazila in Khulna district.
Police said the accident occurred on the Dhaka-Khulna highway when bike rider Mannan hit a standing pickup van after losing control of his bike.
Critically injured Mannan succumbed to his injuries at Gopalganj general hospital.
Meanwhile, UNB adds: In Meherpur, a Saudi expatriate was killed in a road accident on Ashrafpur-Bhobanando road in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Al-Mamun.45, son of late Alim Sheikh, a resident of Rashikpur village of Mujibnagar upazila of the district. He had been working in Saudi Arabia and came here on a three-month leave.
Quoting local people, officer-in-charge of Meharpur Sadar Police Station Rabiul Islam said the accident took place around 7am when Mamun's motorcycle hit a roadside tree while giving side to a mentally challenged man, leaving him dead on the spot.
