Govt distributes 1,343.450 tonnes rice in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, July 13 (BSS): The government has allocated 1,343.450 tonnes of rice for the distressed and ultra poor people of the district to assist them in celebrating the holy Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr festival under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Johirul Haque told BSS that the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management has allocated the rice for distributing it among 1,34,345 VGF card holders of six upazilas and six pourasabhas of the district.

Of the total rice, 407.390 tonnes was distributed among 40,739 cardholders in Sadar upazila, 352.680 tonnes to 35,268 cardholders in Raipura, 146.690 tonnes to 14,669 cardholders in Monohardi, 99.350 tonnes to 9,935 cardholders in Belabo, 94.060 tonnes to 9,406 cardholders in Shibpur and 58.450 tonnes to 5,845 cardholders under Polash upazila.

Besides, 46.210 tonnes among 4,621 cardholders in Narsingdi pourasabha, 46.210 tonnes to 4,621 cardholders in Madhobdi pourasabha, 46.210 tonnes to 4,621 cardholders in Ghorashal pourasabha, 15.400 tonnes to 1,540 cardholders in Monohardi pourasabha, 15.400 tonnes to 1,540 cardholders in Shibpur pourasabha and 15.400 tonnes to 1,540 cardholders in Raipura pourasabha.

Each of the cardholders was given 10-kg of rice.
