The construction work of the cyclone shelters in seven upzilas, mostly in Mathbaria upazila, of the district will be finished in 2022-23 financial year, he added.

He also said during a cyclone, these shelters can accommodate approximately 50,000 people and will also provide classroom space for students.

These cyclone shelters will be serving as safe havens during floods, cyclones and other natural disasters.

These shelter buildings will be built for multipurpose uses. Students will get good class room and good atmosphere and during cyclone and flood, locals will take shelter in the buildings with different facilities.
