TANGAIL, Oct 26: Market price of green chilli remains unstable in Tangail since last Eid-ul Azha causing sufferings for the commoners.
While visiting the different local markets of the town this FE correspondent found that green chilli is being sold at Tk 100 per kg but it was being sold last week at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg.
Alam Miah, a retailer of Park Bazar said from few weeks price of green chilli remains unstable in the market because it is an imported item of the district and when its supply increases its price comes down and in short supply its price goes up.
Shariful Islam sub assistant of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Tangail said that Tangail district is green chilli deficit area and every year the district has to import green chilli from North Bengal or other nearest district.
