Handicapped young man trying to be self-reliant in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH, Jul 25: A young man handicapped from electrocution in childhood is trying to be self-sufficient through computer operation in Kaligonj upazila of Jhenidah. He is desirous of being an icon of a self-made successful youth despite his physical handicap.
Mamun Hossain (23), son of Abul Hossain and Mazeda Begum of Baliadanga village of the upazila got seriously injured when was trying to climb an electric pole near their house in 2003 in a childish playful mood. His hands were ultimately cut off from his body in order to save his life following the accident. Mamun's studies came to a halt in class five at that time. However, he is now-a-days trying to learn writing holding a pen in his mouth. Mamun is the youngest of four brothers and one sister in his father's impoverished family. In order to get rid of the curse of dependence on others for livelihood, he desired to learn computer programming.
So he received a three-month computer training course on Photoshop and MS Word from Hunger Free World computer centre in Kaligonj upazila headquarters for free as a handicapped boy.
Now he is doing the work of photography, and computer compose alongside imparting computer training to the local students at a rented shop at Baliadanga bazaar.
Mamun noted his dream is to own a shop where he can extend his business procuring more computers. He would also like to make a contribution to building Digital Bangladesh through providing the unemployed young men and women of his locality with various computer programs. Shahjahan Ali Bipas working in Hunger Free World, Kaligonj branch told the FE, meritorious but physically challenged Mamun can go a long way in spreading light of technical education in the area if the benevolent segment of people of the society comes forward to help him.
