Harvesting of T-Aman begins in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Nov 19 (BSS): Harvesting of early variety transplanted (T) Aman has been progressing fast in all the six upazilas of the district during the current season amid much enthusiasm of the farmers.
Officials of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and farmers said the overall production of the paddy may exceed the fixed production target as the crop grows excellent in the district this year.
The department sources said a total of 39,550 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation with the production target of one lakh tonne of Aman rice.
Deputy Director of DAE Suvash Chandra Gayan said favorable climate, proper distribution of high quality seeds and timely supply of fertilizers and other agri-inputs to the growers are the reasons for getting desired production of the crop.
