High market price delights Magura drumstick growers

MAGURA, Mar 20: Bumper production and high market price have delighted drumstick (Sajina) growers of the district.

Sources said cultivators have already started harvesting the vegetable and it is now available in the local market.

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Magura sources said there are some 25,000 drumstick trees in the district.

Farmer Niloy Kundu of Bakdanga village under Sadar upazila said, "I have 10 'Sajina' trees in my orchard. The produce is being sold at Tk 100 per kg. I have already made a profit of Tk 15,000 this season and expecting to earn Tk 10,000 more."

Magura DAE official Gobinda Das said, "We encourage the farmers to grow the tasty vegetable on commercial basis."
