Hit by falling steel pipe, army man dies in Sylhet

SYLHET, June 04 (UNB): An army man was killed when a steel pipe fell from the roof of an under-construction building of Sylhet City Corporation in Bandar Bazar area of Sylhet town on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Delwal Hossain, a lance corporal in the Army's 50 Field Regiment Artillery, 17 Division, Sylhet. He was from Raipur village of Jagirgofar under Rangni Thana of Meherpur district.

According to eyewitnesses, a steel pipe suddenly fell on the soldier's head from the 12th floor of the under-construction building of Sylhet City Corporation around 2:30 pm.

Locals rescued him and took him to hospital where doctors declared him dead.
