RANGPUR, Mar 23: A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband following a family feud at Dholaighat village under Taraganj upazila in Rangpur district on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Tripti Rani (25), wife of Bijoy Chandra of the village and also the mother of two children.
According to police and family sources Bijoy often tortured Tripti over petty matters.
On Sunday at around 11 pm an altercation took place between them. At one stage Bijoy beat Tripti up mercilessly with a bamboo stick , leaving her dead on the spot.
Later, locals caught Bijoy and handed him over to the police. The body was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. A murder case was filed in this connection.
