SATKHIRA, Sept 15 (UNB): A housewife was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband for dowry at Bakal Islampur in sadar upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Rafiza Khatun, 35, wife of Khokon Baburchi.
Victim's family alleged that Khokon used to torture Rafiza for dowry since their marriage seven years back.
Khokon strangled Rafiza to death and then hanged the body with a rope as if she had committed suicide, they said.
On suspicion, local people informed police who found marks of injury on her body. The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
Officer-in-charge of sadar police station Golam Rahman said its is suspected that she was strangulated to death. Police arrested Khokon in this connection.
