Housewife killed for dowry in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Jul 10 (UNB): A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Beerdighalia village in Tarash upazila Monday.
The deceased was identified as Julekha, 25, wife of Rezaul of the village.
Police and locals said Rezaul married Julekha, daughter of Jamsher Ali of neighbouring Hamkuria village five years ago and he used to torture her for dowry since the marriage.
On Monday, Rezaul pressed Julekha to bring dowry from her father which she refused. Angered by refusal Rezaul beat her mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot.
Being informed police recovered the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy.
