Housewife stabbed to death over dowry

BENAPOLE, Feb 12 (UNB): A housewife was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws over a dowry-related dispute at Khatua village in Monirampur upazila Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sharmin Akhter, 20, wife of Asadul Islam Asha, a resident of the village.

Family members said Sharmin had been married with Asadul about two years back.

However, their married life turned out to be an unhappy one as Asadul and his family members started torturing Sharmin mentally and physically over dowry.

On Wednesday night, Asadul stabbed Sharmin indiscriminately over the issue, leaving her dead.
