Husband kills wife for dowry in Magura

MAGURA, May 24: A husband allegedly killed his wife for dowry in Magura Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Rikta Khatun (19), daughter of Monshur Mondal of village Kodalia under Sreepur upazila of Magura.

Deceased's cousin Noim Hossein informed, Shahed Ali, husband of Rikta demanded Tk 50,000 from his father-in-law Monshur one year ago. He paid Shahed the money. But Shahed was pressuring on his father-in-law for a month for Tk 50,000 more. But his father in law refused to pay the money.

For this Shahed used to torture her wife very often. Around 9pm Saturday Shahed came back home from market and attacked her with stick and sharp weapons. Rikta died on the spot.

Subsequently Shahed made a blueprint to turn the murder as suicide and attempted to hang Rikta's deadbody with the rope.
