Inter-varsity IT fair begins at PUST

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Dec 30: A 5- day inter- university Information Technology (IT) Fair began at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) campus Sunday, a press release said.

Computer Science and Technology (CST) department of the PUST has organised the fair while Square Toiletries Ltd, Universal Group and Rana Properties Ltd jointly sponsored the fair. State Minister for Science and Technology Architect Yeafes Osman inaugurated the fair.

The state minister said the IT sector has been developed in the country during the last five years. The present government is committed to developing the IT sector in the country rapidly, he also said.

Bangladeshi students have already proved their excellence in the IT sector globally. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greatly contributed to developing the sector, he added.

Pabna district administrator M Saidul Haque Chunnu, woman entrepreneur and manager of Universal Foods Ltd Sohani Hossain and head of the  Computer Science Engineering (CSE) department of the university Prof Islu Noman addressed the inaugural ceremony of the fair while PUST Vice Chancellor Prof Al-Nakib Chowdhury was in the chair. About forty IT stalls have been installed at the fair to introduce the visitors with different technologies, including software development, programme contest, apps development, maths and gaming contests, etc.
