Jamuna river erosion turns serious in Tangail

TANGAIL, Jun 2: The Jamuna river erosion has turned serious here due to on rush of water of heavy monsoon shower from upstream.

With the rise of water level of Jamuna vast char areas of Bhuiyanpur Upazila in Tangail district were going under water. Last week about 500 families of eight villages of Gobindashi union of Bhuiyanpur upazila left their houses for erosion.

Bhuiyanpur upazila agriculture officer Abu Hanif told FE out of 16475 hectares cultivable land 50 hectares have gone fully damaged.
