Jhenaidah, Panchagarh road crashes kill two

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Jhenaidah and Panchagarh districts on Wednesday and Tuesday, report agencies.

In Jhenaidah, a 35-year-old man died, another sustained injuries when their motorcycle lost control and hit a tree in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Naeem Hossain, son of Rafiqul Islam, and a resident of Bhalaipur village in the upazila. Naeem's cousin, Salim, was critically injured in the accident.

Dr Farzana Nazneen Shammi of Moheshpur Upazila Health Complex said, "Salim's condition is critical, and he has been referred to Jashore General Hospital for advanced treatment."

Witnesses said Naeem and Salim were travelling to Moheshpur from Bhalaipur on a motorcycle.

In Panchagarh, a tractor driver died and two others sustained injuries as the vehicle overturned on them in Panchagarh Sadar upazila on Tuesday evening, said police.

The deceased was identified as Bikash Chandra Roy, 26, son of Jhitendra Nath Roy of Lakshpati village under Haribhasa village of the Sadar upazila.

The injured-Nahid Islam, 14, and Mizanur Rahman, 35, were admitted to Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital.

UP Chairman Sayed Nur-e-Alam said the tractor carrying the three veered off while giving side to a speeding microbus at the time of entering Panchagarh-Haribhasa regional road from a dirt road after ploughing land.
