The Jahangirnagar University Alumni Association of Australia recently organised a colourful celebration of the Bengali New Year at Casula Parklands in Sydney, bringing together expatriate alumni and their families in a festive atmosphere.
The day-long event was marked by vibrant participation from former students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) living in Australia, along with their family members, creating a lively and joyous gathering, says a press release.
The programme featured traditional Bengali cuisine, a friendly reunion and interactive sessions among participants.
Organisers said the event provided an opportunity for meaningful exchanges, particularly between senior alumni and newly arrived students and professionals.
They noted that such interactions helped strengthen bonds within the expatriate community and encouraged mutual support in navigating life abroad.
Members of the association's executive committee and a number of senior alumni were present at the event. Their active involvement ensured the programme was conducted in an organised and successful manner.
Participants shared the festive spirit and built cordial relationships, making the occasion both enjoyable and memorable.
The organisers said they would continue arranging similar events in the future to preserve Bengali culture and traditions among expatriates and pass them on to the younger generation.
They added that the day-long celebration turned into a vibrant reunion for the Bangladeshi community in Australia and would remain a cherished memory for those who attended.
