KHULNA, June 18: Khulna City Corporation Thursday announced annual budget for Tk 4.22 billion (422.30 crore) for the fiscal 2015-16.
The proposed budget is Tk 630 million less than the previous year's (2014-15). The revised budget of the last year stood at Tk 2.74 billion only and that has achieved 56.53 per cent.
Khulna City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Moniruzzaman announced the proposed budget at a function arranged at its conference room before the journalists, councilors and elite of the city.
The proposed budget of Tk 4.22 billion of which Tk 1.27 billion will be spent out of corporations own fund while the rest Tk 2.95 billion will be spent from government allocation.
Like the previous years, no additional holding tax has been imposed for the FY 2015-16. Rather, the corporation has planned to strengthen the collection of existing tax and re-assessment of the holding tax to ensure civil service to the city dwellers.

Our Correspondent in Pabna reports: Mayor of Sujanagar municipality in the district here Tofazzel Hossain Tofa declared its Tk 178 million budget for the fiscal 2015-'16 Wednesday. In this connection, a ceremony was held at the Mayor's office room at about 10.00am.
In the budget, government allocation and project assistance have been emphasised as the topmost earning sector. In this sector, Tk 89.1 million has been targeted as the earning head, while the same amount has been fixed as the spending head for infrastructural development and maintenance. Abul Kashem, Sujanagar upazila parishad chairman was present as the chief guest in the budget programme.

BSS reports from Chandpur: Chandpur Pourasabha on Wednesday announced a budget over Tk 526.9 million (52.69 crore) for 2015-16 fiscal at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium.
Pourasabha Mayor Nasir Uddin Ahmed announced the budget in presence of ward commissioners, local journalists and elite of the town.
