KG schools now a lucrative commercial business in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Mar 21: Commercial exploitation in the name of standard education is going on rampant through increasing number of kindergarten (KG) schools in the district, much to the worry of the guardians and educationists.
Presently, KG school business has become a lucrative business in the district, it is alleged. Almost all the KG schools in the district are running with commercial attitude, it is further alleged.
The growth of KG schools in different parts of Rangpur including the city is reportedly because of inadequate standard of government primary schools in the district, sources alleged.
Most of the KG schools lack in proper accommodation, shortage of space, furniture, waiting rooms, educational equipments and qualified teachers and staffs, consequently those who are going to school for learning are being deceived actually, sources further alleged.
In addition, most of the KG schools do not have sports facilities or any scope of recreations of the children and as a result kids become bored due to lack of required entertainment.
According to sources more than several hundreds of KG schools across the district are running their commercial business in the name of education and are set up in the houses hired on rental basis or with the help of some high schools.
The guardians of the students of KG school are now concerned over the future of the children as because the children are growing in a narrow and unusual situation, sources said.
The authority of the kindergarten schools are doing brisk business by appointing unskilled and unemployed men or women as teachers of the schools giving them low pay, whereas they take huge money from the students as admission and tuition fees. As a result the low paid teachers of the KG schools resort to private tuition inside the school, sources alleged.
The students of the KG schools have to pay Tk 5,000 to Tk 20,000 as admission fee and Tk 500 to Tk 3,500 as tuition fees.
The students are not only paying the higher education fee they also have to pay more money for purchasing books and other script from the chosen book stalls and book shops of the KG school authorities, guardians alleged.
In this situation the conscious guardians urged the authorities concerned to take adequate steps in this regard so that the common people can get rid of such commercial exploitation.
