Khulna, Ctg road accidents kill two

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Khulna and Chattogram district on Saturday and Friday, reports UNB.

In Khulna, a six-year-old child died after being hit by a battery-run easy bike while crossing the road in Khulna's Paikgacha on Saturday morning.

Biswajit, sub-inspector (SI) of Paikgacha police station confirmed the death.

Sohrab Gazi, the grandfather of the deceased, said that Samim came to visit their house to attend his uncle's wedding.

On Saturday morning, Samim suffered serious injuries in the head after he was hit by the easy bike while crossing the road.

Locals rescued and took him to Kapilmuni Hospital where doctors declared Samim dead, Sohrab Gazi said. On information, Local UP Chairman Kawsar Ali Joaddar along with UP members visited the spot.

Locals caught the vehicle but its driver managed to flee.

In Chattogram, a college student was killed in a road accident at Chunti Jangalia area of Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway area of Lohagara upazila under Chattogram district around 8:30pm on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Junaidur Rahman Rony, 21, a second-year college student of Chattogram Government Model School and College, and son of Late Saleh Ahmed of Rahmania para of Chunti Union.

Khan Mohammad Erfan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dohazari Highway Police Station, said the college student was killed when a Cox's Bazar-bound bus hit a motorcycle on Friday evening.

"The body of the deceased has been handed over to his family on behalf of the request to give the body without a post-mortem. The bus was seized, but the driver managed to flee the scene," he added.
