Kurigram, Bogura road accidents kill two

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Bogura and Kurigram districts on Monday night and Tuesday, report agencies.

In Bogura, a man was killed and eight others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a rod-laden truck in front of the Adamdighi Upazila Health Complex of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as truck driver Imran Hossain, 24, son of Abdus Sattar of Konail village under Manda upazila of Naogaon district.

The accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Naogaon collided head-on with a rod-laden truck coming from the opposite direction in the area around 7:30am Tuesday morning, leaving truck driver dead on the spot and eight persons, including the driver and helper of the passenger bus, injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Adamdighi Police Station Rajesh Kumar Chakraborty said.

The injured were taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, he said.

In Kurigram, a biker was killed and his pillion rider was injured after an unidentified vehicle hit the bike on Kurigram-Nageshwari road on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Taibul Islam, 25, son of Md Ukil Ali of Majher Char area under Nageshwari upazila while the identity of the injured could not be known immediately.

Locals said Taibul and the other person were heading towards their houses from a local market around 10 pm.

An unidentified vehicle, coming from the opposite direction, hit the bike - leaving Taibul dead on the spot and the pillion rider critically injured, they said.

Nageshwari police station's Sub-Inspector (SI) Mokbul Hossain confirmed the matter, saying that legal action will be taken upon investigation in this regard.
