Lentil yield makes growers happy in Rajshahi region

RAJSHAHI, Mar 22 (BSS): Most of the growers are happy over expected yield of lentil as they cultivated high yielding varieties of the cereal crop in the region including the vast Barind tract this year.

The farmers have brought their land under BARI Mashur-6 cultivation and harvested eight to nine maunds of yield from per bigha of land during the recently concluded harvesting season. They have also become habituated in using modern technologies like conservation agriculture which are facilitating them to get better output. Meanwhile, prospects of boosting additional output around one lakh metric tonnes of lentil output are bright in the region including the vast Barind tract.

Agricultural extension officials, scientists and researchers concerned revealed the prospect referring to some on-farm research findings.
