Lightning strikes claim four lives

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jun 06 (BSS): Three boys were killed on the spot in lightning in Charbagdanga Sonapatti area of Chapainawabganj Sadar on Tuesday evening.

Local sources said the thunderbolt hit the boys- Gaus, 6, Taimur Rahman Faisal, 15, son of Nurul Islam and Emon, 16, son of Isahaq Ali, of the aforesaid area, while they were picking mangoes in a orchard during rain.

In Joypurhat, an indigenous woman was killed and two others were injured when a thunderbolt struck them at Boro Tajpur village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Pahan, 31, wife of Sujon Pahan of Boro Tajpur-Safur Mandal Para vilalge in the upazila.

Mominul Haq, officer-in-charge of Joypurhat Police Station, said a streak of thunderbolt struck on three indigenous women while they were cutting paddy around 2 pm, leaving one dead on the spot and two others injured.s
