Magura farmers overjoyed with bumper mustard yield

MAGURA, Feb 4: A bumper production of mustard is going to be achieved in Magura this year.
The croplands in rural area of Magura has taken an enchanting look as it is high time to harvest mustard. Farmers in the district are now busy with harvesting the yellow crop.
Newly harvested mustard has started to appear in the markets of the district. A bumper production and high price of the crop has sent a wave of joy among the farmers in the district.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Magura said, 12,092 hectares of land have been brought under mustard cultivation in the district this year.
Farmers sources said, mustard is being sold in the local markets at Tk 1500 to Tk 1600 per maund. The price is satisfactory to them.
When contacted, DAE, Magura deputy director Mokhlesur Rahaman said, farmers in the district are showing high interest in mustard cultivation. "We are providing training to the farmers on mustard cultivation. For this average production of mustard is increasing in the district day by day," he said.
