Magura growers busy with preparing Boro seedbed

MAGURA, Jan 1: Magura farmers are now busy with preparing Boro seedbed.

Smooth supply of power, reasonable price of seeds, congenial weather and high price of Aman paddy encouraged farmers in Boro cultivation.

Now they are preparing Boro seedbed with much enthusiasm.

Golam Hossein, a farmer of village Jagdal under Magura sadar upazila said, "I have a plan to bring 12 bighas of land under Boro cultivation this year. In the meantime I have prepared seedbed in about 1 bigha of land. Last year I brought 8 bighas of land under Boro cultivation. This year I am thinking about extending Boro land which is 12 bighas of land."

Another farmer Basharul Mollah of village Vina under Magura sadar upazila said, "This year we are enjoying smooth supply of power to make our seedbed. Moreover we are getting seeds at lower price compared to that in last year. I have purchased 20 kg of high breed seed at Tk 4500 as against Tk 5000 last year. Moreover last year our Boro seedbed was affected with dense fog.

Magura DAE (Department of Agriculture Extension) official Gobinda Das said, Magura farmers are now busy with preparing Boro seedbed.
