Magura growers expecting bumper mustard production

MAGURA, Dec 29: Magura growers are expecting a bumper production of mustard this year.
During a visit to village Jagdal, Kalinagar, Kullia and Gangnalia under Magura Sadar Upazila, crop fields were seen yellowish as mustard is very close to be harvested.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Magura informed, a total of 11250 hectares of land was brought under mustard cultivation in the district this year with an output target of 13782 metric tonne mustard. But the production will stand at 15400 metric tonne exceeding the target.
DAE sources informed, due to easy process of cultivation and low production cost farmers in the district are showing interest in mustard cultivation. Moreover mustard cultivation in the district is increasing day by day. Five years ago 6020 hectares of land was brought under mustard cultivation while this year it is 11250 hectares.
