Man chopped to death in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH, Aug 9 (UNB): A man was chopped to death by miscreants following a conflict over a social matter at Shingnagar village in Shailakupa upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abu Sayeed Mandal,55, son of late Bhedai Mandal of the village.

Ashikur Rahman, second officer of Shoilakupa Police Station, Sayeed had enmity with Rabiul Islam, a member of the union parishad, over a social matter for long.

As a sequel to the enmity, a group of men chopped Sayeed with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.

Sayeed died on way to Kushtia Medical College Hospital at about 9:00am.
