MAGURA, Dec 17: An old man was killed at the early hours of Wednesday in village Raipur under Mohammadpur Upazila of Magura.
The deceased was identified as Alfu Sarder, 60, son of Shamsher Sarder of village Raipur.
The deceased's son Shafiqul Islam said his father was asleep in his own house at village Raipur when a group of miscreants numbering 5 called him out of home and chopped him indiscriminately. He died on the spot. A local influential circle was trying to occupy their land illegally, he added.
When contacted, Mohammadpur police station, officer-in-charge Motiar Rahman confirmed the incident. He said they are yet to find out the reason behind the murder.
