Man dies as train hits pickup in Khulna

KHULNA, May 08 (UNB): A 60-year-old man was killed and another hurt as a train crashed into a pickup on a level crossing in Gilatola Afil Gate area of Khulna early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Afzal Hossain, son of Munsur Ali of Gopalganj's Kashiani Upazil,a and helper of the pickup.

Besides, driver of the vehicle Nur Sheikh, 40, suffered serious injuries.

The Khulna-bound Chilahati train crashed into the pickup around 4 am, leaving its helper dead on the spot, said Molla Khabir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Khulna Railway Police Station. On information, police recovered the body and sent the injured driver to hospital for treatment.
