Man gets life term for killing elder brother in Sherpur

SHERPUR, Nov 17 (BSS): A court here on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his elder brother in Sherpur.

Senior District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Zahirul Kabir delivered the verdict in presence of the convict on Monday afternoon.

The court also fined the convict, Md Yakub Ali, 55, son of late Nasimuddin Munshi of Dakshin Sanyasivita village under Nalitabari upazila, Taka 5,000, in default to suffer three more months in jail, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Mohammad Abdul Mannan.

According to the prosecution, on March 25, 2013, an altercation broke out between Yakub Ali and his elder brother, Hatem Ali, over cutting a tree branch in their house courtyard.
