Man hacked dead over supremacy

GOPALGANJ, May 19 (UNB): A man was hacked to death by his rivals over establishing supremacy at Shashabaria village in Sadar upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Laku Molla, 63, a former army member, and a resident of the same village.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Zakir Hossain said there had been a dispute prevailing for long between Khokon, a union member and Laku and his Maku Molla over establishing domination in the area.
The clash ensued following an altercation between the supporters of the two groups on Monday afternoon.
Later, men of Khokan stormed Laku's house at about 3:30 am and chopped him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured.
The attackers also chopped Maku as he tried to save Laku. Laku died on way to Gopalganj General Hospital while Maku was admitted to the hospital.
