Man killed by wife, stepsons in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, May 14 (UNB): A man was beaten to death allegedly by his second wife and his step sons at Ramchandrapur village in Parbotipur Upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Subas Chandra Roy,48, son of late Hariprada Roy, a resident of the village.

Locals said Subas, father of four daughters, had married Joytsna Bala, widow of Ganapoti of the same village and mother of three sons, eight years back.

He often had quarrel with Joytsna, his second wife, over different issues since after their marriage.

A few days back, Joytsna along with her three sons, had started living separately at a house beside Subas's.

On the fateful night, Subas locked in an altercation with Joytsna over the previous issues at about 11:00pm when he was returning home.

At one stage, Joytsna and her two sons Nitesh and Pradip beat Subas mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.

Local people caught Joytsna, Pradip and his wife Sandha Rani, Nibesh and his wife Pratima while they were trying to flee after the incident.
