Man strangulates newlywed wife in Kushtia

KUSHITA, Jun 3 (UNB): A newlywed housewife was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband at Kabarbaria village in Mirpur upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Kumkumi Khatun Shampa, 19, wife of Rubel of the village.

Victim's father Abdul Kuddus said his daughter was married off to Rubel, son of Sher Ali, three months back and since then he used to torture her for dowry.

On Monday night, Rubel beat Shampa over the issue and strangled her in the early hours on Tuesday.
